American Pie

American Pie is a song and an album released in 1971 by American singer-songwriter Don McLean.(1). The song is well known for the richness of its symbolism and allusions to the history of American popular music from the 1950s to the early 1970s, referring to a 1959 plane crash that killed Buddy Holly, The Big Bopper, and Ritchie Valens as "the day the music died".(2)(3)(4) Alan Anderson has rendered this song into Klingon as Qo'noS chab ("pies of Qo'noS").(5)
