David Waddell

David Waddell is/was a politician from North Carolina who got some attention in the media because he wrote his resignation letter in Klingon(1).

Klingon Text

The text provided by Waddell was written in pIqaD, displayed on an image file. Since the grammar is quite bad and some of the words are transliterated, it's obvious that some software like Bing has been used.

On the same image, Waddell gave us the translation:

Teach (the) city (the) constitution
I will return next time to (witness) victory.
Resignation occurs in 2014 the 31st of January.
Perhaps today is a good day (to) resign.

The final line was not translated. It means "While screaming, he speaks: David Waddell"

In fall 2014 David Waddel ran a campaign for U.S. Senate and created a campaign sign using klingon. The words were written in pIqaD again, saying this: DavID waDDell ngor uS Senate which obviously stands for meaning "David Waddell for US Senate" . Today, he is not doing politics any more.(2)
