Painstik

The painstick is a device to inflict pain through electricity, formerly used to domesticate animals. It is used at the Rite of Ascension to test the constitution of a Klingon.

The Klingon word for that is 'oy' naQ.

Trivia

Although the correct English spelling would suggest "pain + stick" – i.e. with ck – the word "painstik" (only with k) has become the canon spelling, also used in TKD.
