How do I say... "The day when xy happened"

The question is how to say a phrase like "The day on which xy happened", as in "Do you remember the day we first met?".

Canon examples

There are only few unsatisfying canon suggestions.

The lyrics to the drinking song do not follow proper grammar, so this example does not really count:

jaj qeylIS molor mIgh Hoghchu'qu'
The day on which Khaless killed evil Molor.

The Klingon Way gives a nice phrase, which comes close to the idea:

wa' jaj 'etlh 'uchchoHlaH tlhIngan puqloD; jajvetlh loD nen moj.
The son of a Klingon is a man the day he can first hold a blade. (1)

From the message to Kronos, there is this phrase:

poH tuj bI'reS nungbogh wa' jaj qeylIS DIS chorghvatlh loSmaH jav qaStaHvIS.
In the days [sic] that follow the summer solstice in the Year of Kahless 846. (2)

Another example from paq'batlh refers to a night instead of a day, but is missing the "day-on-which" meaning:

chu'DI' maS 'ej qaStaHvIS ram
nuHmeyDaj may'luchDaj nIv je
yIr qeylIS

On the night of the new moon
Kahless gathered his weapons,
And his finest suit of armor.

Translation attempts

relative clause

A quite literal translation like "the day (on) which we met" leads to maqIHchuqbogh jaj. That sounds wrong - and probably is - because the relative clause has no head (i.e. the verb has no object). It translates roughly more as "we whom met the day" or so. A reader would notice it as unusual, but would not have a problem understanding it. Nevertheless, it's an obvious anglicism and no nice Klingon.

Nominalizer suffix

Using the nominalizer suffix -ghach may solve the problem, but the result seems a bit articficial and might not work for all phrases:

qIHchuqpu'ghachmaj jaj
"The day of our having-met-ness"

At this time, the best way is to recast the phrase into two pieces, like it has been done in the example from TKW. Instead of saying "The day on which xy happened" say "xy happened sometimes. Think of that day".

ben law' maqIHchuq. jajvetlh Daqaw'a'?
"We first met many years ago. Do you remember that day?" = "Do your remember the day we first met?"
