The Klingon agent Valkris stole secret data about the "Genesis Device" during the events of Star Trek III: The Search for Spock and sold them to commander Kruge, because he wants to use it as a weapon. Upon hearing that Valkris already viewed the data, he decides to destroy her ship.

The Klingon spelling is valQIS. (1)
