It was not explained what the noun qaq by itself means. It appears in the word qaq naH watermelon.

  Regarding definition #2 – be preferable:
It is possible that this word originated because the actor had problems pronouncing the word QaQ be good in Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country.
