More Information

The verb ma' originally was intended as the verb for "tell" in Star Trek III: The Search for Spock in the phrase qama'pu' jonta' neH with the original meaning of "I told you: only the engine". When the makers of the film changed the subtitles to "I wanted prisoners", Marc Okrand had to change the meaning of the words (making qama' to "prisoner" and ja' as "tell"). He kept the word ma' and listed is with new meaning, because he was forced to "accommodate" it.
